The KC3AFB-5 balloon was successfully launched at 8:35am from the Parade Field at Camp Agawam in New Castle, PA, as part of the Jamboree On The Air/Internet event and the Family Camping Weekend festivities. By the last report of the day, it had traveled some 425 miles almost to New Haven, Connecticut. The last beacon had the balloon traveling at about 70mph and at an altitude of just under 30,000 feet.
